What Goes Around Comes Around
The phone buzzed with a whatsapp message received from Rita. I check it out and find a photo of a woman with graceful beauty, wearing one of my Love necklaces. The message says: this was sold just now.
I had spent the day prior to that moment battling my incessant thinking, and the constant questioning of my very move with my artistic endeavors of late, and the looming uncertainty of the future. The text came as though to remind me of my initial initiative. Back in winter time, I was working steadfastly, without a strict preset plan for the outcome, or where or how I was going to sell my new creations; I was driven by faith. Love and Hope were pieces I made around then as I felt an urge to work with the Arabic calligraphy once again. I created few bold necklaces and earrings from the words in brass and copper, and I gave them a timeless, rustic look through an oxidizing process.
I had reached out to Rita in springtime and I asked if she'd like to have some of my jewelry at her website. I seldom like the idea of collaborating with other people when it comes to my art, but I had been a loyal customer of Rita's for a long while. I've seen how she grew her own art and business, and I admire how she does things, there's finesse and style in her ways that speaks to me. She very much welcomed the idea when I approached her about it, and by summertime, our collaboration had been established.
She would frequently share with me screenshots and the wording of the content she intends to post or have posted on her social media when highlighting my creations. She respected the space I needed when I was urged to remove myself and work from all social media and WhatsApp groups at a certain point. She is patient when my OCD kicks in. She would sometimes send me on random (not so random) moments songs with her most beautiful warm voice that I very much love and appreciate. Rita is skilled with words and adds beauty to all the creations of her collaborators with the content she creates. She does all things with utmost care and attention. She puts effort, gives time, and attends to the needs of her collaborators and customers equally, with unwavering dedication. Most of all, she's both passionate and very organized, which makes working with her a very sane job.
Rita, fellow artist and creator, I thank you deeply and your customer for the beautiful love you share with the world, and that perfectly timed energy you exchanged with me, for I have indeed been stuck in a rot lately, and you've given me a little push, and brought back the faith to my aching heart.
Onward and upwards we go!
